Product description
Large (40 cm) pendant light in brushed aluminum with golden finish by Carl Thore, also known as Sigurd Linkvist. This is a rare CT pendant that is constructed from stacked aluminum plates on long screws with spacers, similar to the famous "Trava" series. The central ring has a shiny outer surface and is painted orange inside to project a fire-like glow around the center of the shade. It provides a soft neutral shine down over a table as well as up into the ceiling.
Good condition with some minor signs of use. Standard E 27 light bulb. Designer's label still present.
The real name of the designer known as Carl Thore was Sigurd Lindkvist, born in 1916 in Åmal in Sweden’s Dalsland. After working for a lighting firm called Luko, Lindkvist joined Granhaga Metallindustri in 1961, where he designed lights and also served as head of sales, remaining with the company until he retired around 1981. Lindkvist adopted the pseudonym Carl Thore for his Granhaga light designs spontaneously when he was presenting the lights to a client who asked the identity of the designer. "Carl Thore," Lindkvist blurted out, these being his two middle names.
