A rare and contemporary lounge chair in excellent original condition. This comfortable armchair with teak armrests and fabric upholstery was designed by W.H. Gispen / Gijs van der Sluis in the 1950s for KEMBO.
Gispen designed solid furniture with an industrial and minimalist look, and in all his designs, he followed an interplay of lines, form, and color.
KEMBO stood for "Come First, Come to Us." Willem Gispen launched Kembo with this slogan in the 1950s, thumbing his nose at his former company, Gispen, which had unwillingly bought him out.
