Charming small gilt bronze apothecary's mortar and pestle, vintage 20th century (1950s-1970s), in the style of antique pharmaceutical mortars. It has a flared shape resting on a circular base, flanked by two rounded side handles. The body is adorned with a raised medallion depicting a heraldic lion within a shield surmounted by a crown. The gilt metal has a crackled, patinated appearance. The matching pestle, also in bronze, is slender in shape.
Mortar height: 8 cm, maximum width: 10 cm including handles, pestle length: 15 cm. Good overall condition, clean metal with normal signs of use and a light, natural patina. Approximately 700 g.
