About the Designers
Hans Theo Baumann (1924–2016) was one of Germany's foremost industrial designers, celebrated for his disciplined geometric vocabulary and timeless functionalism. His collaborations with Rosenthal produced some of the company's most enduring modernist porcelain designs, characterised by clarity, proportion, and architectural restraint.
Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) ranks among the most influential Scandinavian designers of the twentieth century. Working across glass, wood, silver, and porcelain, he developed an organic design language inspired by Nordic landscapes and natural forms. His Rosenthal designs brought this sculptural sensibility into porcelain, creating objects of remarkable elegance and balance.
