Gerrit Rietveld ZigZag Chair. Official and Numbered Replica by Cassina - 2003.
The ZigZag chair is an iconic chair designed in 1934 by the Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld. The chair has no legs and consists of four wooden plates in the shape of a Z. It is not just a chair—it is surprisingly comfortable to sit in—but above all a sculpture reminiscent of the De Stijl period.
This chair is made of cherry wood. The chair is in good condition, though it does have minor damage from normal use. Because there was damage (something heavy once fell on it) to the seat and backrest, these have been sanded down again. Subsequently, the surfaces were treated with hard wax. This brings out the warmth and structure of the cherry wood more beautifully.
Like all Cassina replicas, this chair is also numbered. The certificate of authenticity, including numbering, is present. The price of a Cassina replica is around €2,000.
