Gerhard Liebenthron (1925-2005) Born in Neustrelitz in 1925. 1948-1951 Studied at the North German Academy of Art in Bremen under Else Krieg and Dorothea Colberg-Tjadens. 1951 Assistant to the sculptor Prof. Gorsemann. From 1952 own studio in Böttcherstraße Bremen. Since 1955 participation in numerous national and international exhibitions. Died in Bremen in 2005. Liebenthron's works often show unconventional organic forms and expressive decorations, often using the incised decoration technique. Gerhard Liebenthron's works are represented in numerous private and public collections in Germany, including the Keramikmuseum Berlin (KMB), the Focke Museum in Bremen and the Hetjens Museum in Düsseldorf.
