Product description
Gerard Geytenbeek Tripod Dining Table for AZS — Netherlands, 1960s An exceptionally strong Dutch dining table from the 1960s, designed by Gerard Geytenbeek for AZS. With its generous round top, distinctive wood grain, and architectural tripod base, this table is a beautiful example of the understated power of Dutch modernism. The 150 cm round top is constructed from carefully arranged wenge veneer. The different directions of the wood grain create a subtle geometric pattern that is particularly visible from above. The warm, lively grain of the wenge contrasts sharply with the dark base. Beneath the top is the characteristic tripod base: three wide, angled legs that cross centrally. The construction gives the table an almost sculptural appearance while simultaneously providing plenty of visual space around the top. The powerful geometry of the base is particularly striking from a lower perspective. With a diameter of 150 cm, the table comfortably seats six people. The absence of traditional legs at the corners also keeps the seating arrangement flexible. An excellent table for an interior where quality, material, and architecture are more important than fleeting trends. The design is often attributed to Martin Visser for 't Spectrum, but it is a design by Gerard Geytenbeek for AZS. An interesting Dutch design classic for the collector who looks beyond the most obvious names. The table is in good vintage condition. The top has some light scratches, and the edge shows normal signs of use appropriate for its age. The black-finished base has developed an attractive patina over the years. This can be re-finished in deep black if desired, but its current state gives the table an authentic character.
