Antique English tallboy cabinet, also known as a chest-on-chest because it is made of two stacked sections, made of solid oak and veneer. This George III chest of drawers is probably from the late 19th century, United Kingdom.
This impressive and very large cabinet features a cornice with a molded edge at the top, a selection of eight drawers, two narrow ones and six long ones of varying sizes, all with oak interiors and partially original brass swan-neck handles. The sides are also finished with mahogany veneer, and the whole thing stands on the typical bracket feet.
This cabinet is in good antique condition, with signs of wear consistent with its age—over 200 years old! Not all the handles are original; a smaller handle has been fitted to the bottom left, there are some chips and cracks in the veneer along the edges, a piece of molding is missing on the left side, and a few superficial scratches and dents. However, the cabinet still looks fantastic and is full of character.
This tallboy has been polished, waxed, and shined. Some of the decorative moldings around the drawers have been replaced. Check the photos for more details!
