Foundation & background
Galvanitas began in 1934 as a metal processing company in Oosterhout and after World War II expanded its products to include school furniture.
Model S16: design and production
The S16 school chair was designed and manufactured in Oosterhout in the late 1950s into the 1960s. What made the design revolutionary was the use of pressed sheet steel instead of tubes, combined with a Pagwood seat, very sturdy and suitable for intensive use in schools, institutions and canteens
