Together with Constant Permeke and Frits Van Den Berghe, he belongs to the Big Three of Flemish Expressionism. He often signed his works with Gust. De Smet. Comes from an acquisition, unfortunately no certificate of authenticity. Born: January 21, 1877, Ghent, Belgium. Died: October 8, 1943, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium. Period: Expressionism. Education: Royal Academy of Fine Arts Ghent.
