Hanaire / floral vase Bizen ceramic (the Bizen region represents one of the "Six Ancient Kilns", Okayama Prefecture) Signed artist's ceramic (scribed signet on base of vessel): Fujiwara Yu (1932 - 2001) Fujiwara Yu was named a living national treasure in 1996 (Ningen Kokuhô, Living National Treasure). Including original inscribed, signed and stamped box. Dimensions (height x diameter): approx. 23 x 10.5 cm Weight: circa 1250 g Age: Showa era circa 1970s vintage Great Bizen ceramic by a very famous artist of medium size with partial Goma cinder glaze and signs of firing. Hand-turned ceramic, very slightly asymmetrical with well pronounced finger grooves. Subtle trace of cinder from the Anagama kiln on the surface (fired for days in a traditional kiln over pinewood). Classic piece by Fujiwara Yu with a captivating, powerful and authentic charm. Authentic original from Japan, manufactured for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and for the art of Ikebana, used in Japan. Unique hand-craftsmanship with attractive aura.
