Product description
The Fritz Hansen Swan Chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. He had been commissioned to design and furnish the hotel. A major project, it allowed him to put his vision of the interplay between architecture and design into practice. The soft, organic shapes of the Swan Chair formed a beautiful contrast with the sleek horizontal and vertical lines of the hotel itself. The Swan was given a place in the hotel lobby, alongside the iconic Egg Chair and various other pieces by Arne Jacobsen. Both chairs, thanks to their rounded lines, were real eye-catchers and technologically innovative, as it had not yet been possible to produce furniture with such shapes.
