The café au lait bowl is one of the most intimate objects on the French table. You hold it with both hands to warm yourself, you dip your morning toast into it. Its flared, wide, and generous shape is reminiscent of breakfasts of yesteryear. This fine porcelain bowl features a flared truncated cone shape, resting on a pedestal base, with a body adorned with twisted ribs that provide a pleasant grip. The decor, applied by chromolithographic transfer, depicts a bouquet of white flowers — anemones or wild roses — accompanied by red berries and blue-green foliage with an almost metallic sheen. The rendering is of great finesse. The golden mark on the reverse side indicates a quality French manufacture from the late 19th to early 20th century. The porcelain is white, smooth on the inside, with that slightly creamy luster characteristic of beautiful porcelains from this era. Diameter approximately 14 cm, height approximately 8 cm.
