A truly impressive and elegant French mid-century design object, crafted from heavy green lead crystal and set on a solid cast bronze base with a refined sculptural fish motif. A striking statement piece that instantly draws attention in any interior.
The crystal bowl has a characteristic concentric structure with four organically shaped lobes, a shape strongly associated with the production of Vannes-le-Châtel (Art Vannes) from the 1950s and 1960s. The glass catches the light beautifully and displays a deep, vibrant green hue with considerable depth.
The richly detailed bronze base, with its shell-shaped base and flowing fish, gives the object a sculptural appearance and makes it more than just a utilitarian object. This type of object was designed in the post-war period as a luxurious salon piece and is today primarily valued as a decorative centerpiece or art object.
