Elegant French Louis XV style bureau plat, beautifully executed in richly figured rosewood veneer and decorated with elaborate gilt-bronze mounts. The desk features the characteristic curved and shaped lines of the Louis XV period, with cabriole legs, a serpentine apron and finely detailed ormolu mounts along the corners, legs and drawer fronts. The front incorporates three drawers with decorative gilt-bronze handles and escutcheons. The writing surface is finished with a dark green leather inset, surrounded by an ornate gilt-tooled border. A brass gallery follows the shaped edge of the tabletop, completing the refined French appearance. A highly decorative statement desk that works beautifully as a freestanding writing desk, executive desk or focal piece in a classic or eclectic interior.
