Francesco Saverio Torcia (1840-1891) was an Italian painter, mainly of seascapes and portraits of ordinary people . Torcia was born in Naples, where he completed his studies at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts of Naples; he then worked in the studio of Domenico Morelli. Among his works are: Un canto d'amore e idillio (Song of love and idyll) , exhibited in Milan and reproduced in the Illustrazione Italiana Smarrita. He painted genre and landscape paintings. He exhibited in Naples; Interior of the Church of the Geroliminì and Vesuvius, exhibited in Naples; Una marina, exhibited in Genoa, a canvas titled: Impressions of November 2 and A flower seller in Naples. Torcia was a professor at the Art Academy in Naples.

Torcia was born in Naples, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, where he completed his studies at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts of Naples; he then worked in the studio of Domenico Morelli. Among his works are: A Song of Love and Idyll, exhibited in Milan and included in the Illustrazione Italiana Smarrita. He painted genre and landscape paintings. He exhibited in Naples: Interior of the Church of the Geroliminì and Vesuvius, Naples; Una marina, Impressions of November 2 flower seller in Naples. Torcia became a professor at the art academy in Naples The work was created plm 1875. Given this age, the work is in very good condition. It is painted on a wooden panel measuring 16 x 28 cm. It is placed in a 20th century frame of 30x42 cm, which shows some signs of use. The photos show the panel itself, from various angles. By doing so, we show the effect of the incidence of light. Furthermore, the panel is photographed on its side and on its back.
