A collection of four handcrafted elephant figurines from Brazil, made from a heavy, ceramic or stoneware-like material and richly decorated with applied ornaments, chains, and floral patterns.
The figurines are typical examples of Brazilian Arte Popular/folk art. Each figurine is individually crafted, with varying color nuances, decorative motifs, and surface textures. No two are exactly alike.
At least one figurine retains an original label on the underside indicating "Handmade in Brazil," confirming its handcrafted origin. The opening on the underside is due to the construction (firing or cavity opening).
Dating: Late 20th century, circa 1970s–1990s.
Material: Ceramic/stoneware with three-dimensional appliqués, painted, and decorated with metal chains.
