Fontana Arte – founded by Gio Ponti in 1932 as the "artistic" department of Luigi Fontana – is a company that developed as a research center for the special characteristics of glass, with results that made it one of the protagonists of pre-war Italian design .
The Compasso d'Oro Award is an important recognition presented by the Association for Industrial Design with the aim of rewarding and improving the quality of Italian design. It is the oldest and most prestigious industrial design award in the world. Fontana Arte received the prize in 1998.Some scratches, barely visible to the naked eye.
