This vase lamp was upcycled from a rare ceramic vase by Fohr Keramik. It dates from the West German Pottery period of the 1960s/70s. A particularly striking feature is the pronounced, highly textured Fat Lava glaze, which extends in relief across the neck of the vase and forms a strong contrast to the smooth, light blue glaze. The vase is in exceptionally good condition.
The vase has a distinctive, bulbous shape with a side handle and appears highly sculptural due to the combination of volume and textured surface. Fohr Keramik pieces are generally much rarer on the market than those from major mass-produced manufacturers, which gives this vase a correspondingly high collector's value.
Lamp base manufacturer: Fohr Keramik
Style: Fat Lava / West German Pottery
Height: 20 cm
Width: approx. 19 cm
The vase has been converted into a table lamp and is operated with a standard cord. A black Bakelite E27 socket with a cable entry point was installed directly into the socket. It is rated for up to 120 volts / 240 watts. Thanks to the external cable routing, no holes needed to be drilled in the vase. The socket for the bulb and the shade was securely anchored in the vase using a handcrafted and custom-made plug-in solution.
The lampshade: Dimensions: 25 cm diameter × 25 cm height
Material: High-quality jacquard decorative fabric. The fabric features a dense, floral pattern with stylized blossoms in turquoise and blue tones on a dark background. The jacquard weaving technique creates a subtly textured surface with depth. The fabric is very dense. The shade's color perfectly complements the vase's tone, resulting in a harmonious overall look.
Lamp dimensions: Total height: approx. 47 cm
This lamp combines a rare West German Pottery vase with a handcrafted lampshade. A very well-preserved, unique piece with a pronounced collector's character.
