Designed in 1962 by the legendary brothers Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Toio turns an everyday car headlamp into a sculptural light object. Its exposed transformer, enamelled steel base and fishing-rod eyelets that guide the cable up the slender stem make it a museum piece (it’s in MoMA’s permanent collection) yet totally functional at home.
