RARE MID-CENTURY WALL LAMP BY LUXUS, SWEDEN – EARLY 1950s
A beautiful example of early 1950s Scandinavian lighting design by Luxus of Sweden. With its graceful silhouette and refined material pairing, this wall lamp embodies the understated elegance that defined Swedish modernism of the time.
The opaline glass shade is delicately joined to a teak wood top, forming a harmonious union between natural warmth and soft translucence. The shade appears to float in front of the wooden back panel, casting a gentle reflection that enhances the sense of depth and atmosphere.
This seamless transition between wood and glass, combined with the suspended construction via its original textile cord, gives the piece a light and almost poetic presence—typical of early designs by Uno & Östen Kristiansson, founders of Luxus and key figures in Scandinavian lighting design.
