Sling Tandem armchairs by Charles & Ray Eames for Vitra/Herman Miller, 1962. In good condition, with some signs of wear (see photos). Very rare in armchair form. Charles and Ray Eames designed the Tandem Seating system at the request of a friend, the architect Eero Saarinen, who was looking for suitable seating for the waiting areas of his new terminal at Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. The architects of the two new terminals at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, C.F. Murphy Associates, were also seeking durable seating that was easy to maintain and repair for public spaces. No maker's mark. Dimensions: W: 67 cm H: 84 cm D: 62 cm
