At the heart of the Belgian industrial basin, the Amis factory, located in La Louvière, participated from the beginning of the 20th century in the great revival of Belgian earthenware. This region, renowned for its ceramics alongside Boch, Nimy, and Keramis, developed a production where manufacturing quality was combined with decorations inspired by major European trends. The Copenhagen model belongs to this period when Belgian manufacturers looked towards the Nordic countries. After the Second World War, tastes evolved. Decorations became more subdued, lines became finer, and blue motifs inspired by famous Danish porcelain appealed to a clientele seeking discreet elegance. Without seeking to copy them, Belgian earthenware manufacturers reinterpreted this Scandinavian spirit with their own identity. This sauce boat is a fine example of this. Its cobalt blue decoration, composed of stylized volutes and refined floral motifs, brings an impression of lightness, while its generous curves recall traditional tableware. Presented with its original underplate, it evokes family meals where sauces were served with as much care as the dishes themselves. Produced in the 1950s to 1960s, it testifies to a time when fine tableware still held an essential place in homes. The Amis, La Louvière, Copenhagen stamp is present under the underplate, attesting to its origin. The set measures approximately 20 cm in length by 9 cm in height, in very good condition.
