Beautiful vintage extendable dining table, designed by Inger Klingenberg and produced by the Fristho Furniture Factory in the 1960s. Klingenberg was known for her understated, functional designs in which high-quality materials and subtle details take center stage. This table is a beautiful example of that.
The table has been carefully restored in our workshop with respect for the original design. The rosewood veneer has been refinished with a protective satin-matte finish, allowing the deep color and vibrant grain to come fully into their own again. The solid wood legs and table edges have also been refinished and are in beautiful condition. A few light signs of use have been deliberately retained; they actually give the table extra character and authenticity.
What makes this table truly special are the subtle yet thoughtful details. The contrasting wood joints at the corners showcase the craftsmanship with which the table was constructed, while the metal plates between the tabletop and the legs add an elegant accent. Combined with the contrast between the warm rosewood and the dark solid wood edges, a design emerges that appears understated at first glance, but is in reality rich in detail.
The table is also particularly well thought out in terms of practicality. With the integrated extension system, it can be extended from a six-person to an eight-person table in just a few seconds, without compromising the sleek design.
In short, a beautiful mid-century dining table in which Danish elegance and Dutch craftsmanship come together beautifully. A timeless design that still looks modern more than sixty years later and can once again be the centerpiece of the dining room for years to come.
