Offered for acquisition: A beautiful, monumental, and original hand-knotted Persian rug from the renowned carpet region of Kashan (Iran). This generous rug, measuring 240 x 300 cm (surface area of 7.2 m²), was purchased in Belgium for nearly 200,000 BEF (approximately €4,950), underscoring the exceptional class and durability of this piece. The carpet is crafted from high-quality, oil-rich virgin wool on a cotton base and is finished on the reverse side with characteristic leather protective strips. It features a very fine structure with a precisely measured knot density of approximately 300,000 knots per square meter, amounting to over 2.1 million hand-laid knots. The pattern displays the classic, highly detailed 'Shah Abbas' floral medallion in deep navy blue, rust/terracotta, and warm beige tones. Condition and price: The carpet is in beautiful vintage condition with a characteristic, uniform patina (brilliant color changes depending on the light). There is a small horizontal tear of only 5 centimeters at the very edge (see detail photo). For a hand-knotted rug of this quality, this can easily be invisibly repaired by an enthusiast or specialist, or strategically placed under a piece of furniture (such as a bed or sofa). The fringes and other edges are in solid condition. Due to this minor vintage sign of use, the price has now been set very attractively at €1,950 (the current retail price in a specialty store is between €4,500 and €6,500). Specifications: Origin: Kashan, Iran (Persia) Production: 100% Hand-knotted Dimensions: 240 x 300 cm Material: Pure wool pile on cotton warp Knot density: ~300,000 knots per m² (Total approx. 2,160,000 knots) Extra: Fitted with original leather edge protection on the back.
