Stoneware Eskimo sculpture, created by Juan Huerta for Lladró in the 1990s. Diameter 20 cm, Diameter 14 cm, Height 26 cm. Juan Huerta was one of the historic pillars and most prolific sculptors of the renowned Lladró company, the Valencia-based firm famous worldwide for its porcelain figurines with pastel tones and elongated forms. Joining the Lladró 'family' in the 1960s, Huerta contributed decisively to defining what we now know as the Lladró style: a mix of gentle realism, classical elegance, and a certain sentimental vein. He was active primarily between the 1960s and the early 2000s. Huerta was a master at capturing the delicacy of gestures. His works range from child figures to religious themes, and animals, always with meticulous attention to detail (such as the famous handmade porcelain flowers, petal by petal). Lladró is not just a brand, but the worldwide symbol of Spanish artistic porcelain. Founded in 1953 in Almàssera (Valencia) by the brothers Juan, José, and Vicente Lladró, the company transformed a small artisanal production into a luxury empire present in over 120 countries. Unlike traditional porcelain which requires multiple firings, Lladró perfected the single high-temperature firing. This technique allows for the creation of the celebrated soft tones (powder blue, pearl grey, flesh pink) which seem to emanate light from within.
