It has a depth that only thick glass can offer. An intense, almost aquatic emerald green, streaked with brown and amber swirls that seem suspended within the glass. The pattern never appears quite the same. You have to turn the vase to discover it. The lines cross, disappear behind the transparency, then reappear on the other side, like stems or long leaves caught in the still-molten glass. In the light, the whole becomes particularly beautiful; the green brightens while the brown hues gain in depth. Its silhouette, tall and slightly tapered, maintains great simplicity. It is precisely this contrast between an almost classic form and a much freer glasswork that gives it its character. This way of allowing color and movement to emerge directly within the material fully belongs to the studio glass research of the second half of the 20th century. The green and amber tones, the thickness of the glass, and the freedom of the decoration are particularly reminiscent of the style developed by certain Maltese glassworks in the 1960s and 1970s. On an antique chest of drawers, it brings that touch of modernity that immediately enlivens the piece. On a walnut or rosewood console table, it takes on very 1970s accents. In a more contemporary interior, placed alone near a window, it almost becomes a sculpture. A beautiful piece of 20th-century art glass, generous in its material and remarkable for the depth of its colors. Height approximately 20 cm. Diameter approximately 10 cm.
