At the turn of the 20th century, French coffee roasters vied for elegance in adorning their luxury coffees. This square tin with a slip lid, made of embossed and lithographed tinplate, is a striking testament to this. The main side bears the inscription "Café P.D.V. – Its Grand Luxury Blend," in blue letters on an aged silver background. The opposite side proclaims in large capitals: "A Revelation for the Most Discerning Gourmets." The third side indicates the net weight: 250 grams. The fourth side is adorned with an embossed medallion depicting an allegorical female figure, surrounded by Art Nouveau scrollwork. The domed lid, the rounded corners, the frieze of scrollwork at the bottom of each side — all attest to remarkable craftsmanship for mass-market packaging. Very pronounced golden oxidation on all sides, the lithography almost completely faded. Extreme and authentic wear patina, visible in the photos. France, .
