The Satellite mirror is an iconic design by Eileen Gray, originally created in 1927 for her famous villa E-1027 in the South of France. This specific piece is a later reissue by Ecart International, produced in the 1970s or 80s, and reflects the progressive Bauhaus aesthetic of that era.
The design consists of a large round wall mirror with a diameter of 73 cm, crafted from mirror glass and nickel-plated metal. A striking feature is the smaller, adjustable convex mirror attached to a hinged arm, allowing the user to view the back of their head. The mirror is also equipped with integrated lighting, which contributes to both the functionality and the sculptural character of the object.
The mirror is in good condition commensurate with its age and use. The original wiring is still present on the back. The nickel-plated metal and mirror glass have developed an authentic character over the years.
This historic design object comes into its own perfectly in a modern or modernist interior. It functions not only as a practical mirror, but also as a striking work of art in a hallway, bedroom, or bathroom.
