Cast iron manufacturer ZimmermanHanau, Germany. Founded by Ernst Georg Zimmerman in 1840. From 1841 to 1846, the company collaborated with the Seebass foundry, which had been opened in Berlin in 1841 by Alfred Richard Seebass and moved to Hanau in 1841. The two companies parted ways in 1846 but continued to collaborate. Zimmerman later also produced bronze and, from approximately 1880–1890, silver. In the first decades, Zimmerman successfully competed with the Königliche Eisengiesserei in Berlin, both with its own designs and with designs copied from Berlin. The factory was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, resulting in the loss of the molds, drawings, and catalogues. The iron foundry closed in 1966.
