Production: Edra, late 1990s

Designed in 1990 by Masanori Umeda
The chair is still in production by Edra and lists at 6800 euros.
Currently used pieces are truly difficult to find on the market as it is a fairly limited production.
It is a piece of design history on the rise, especially the early productions under these conditions.
Getsuen is a small chair in the shape of a lily, delicate in appearance, but hiding a solid manually shaped steel frame. High technology combined with execution skill.
Manual skill is an indispensable way of working to guarantee Edra's quality, the oldest and the most modern together, and through the exercise of manual skills knowledge is transmitted: one works following the technically advanced project, yet at the same time recalling the good manual practices that have always existed in Tuscany.
Hands are the only way to ensure the highest quality. Hands interpret, adapt, build, express, reach milestones that machines are not allowed to reach.
A fundamental balance between technology and beauty, between reason and immediate wonder. This is one of Edra's values: passion, which generates the highest quality. The same that belongs to its land, Tuscany, the heart of Italy that has given the world Renaissance masterpieces.
Fabrics and coverings in Edra are an integral part of the project, both in engineering and aesthetic terms, not mere trendy covers or color choices.
Each product in the Collection is accompanied by a study on the ideal upholstery to complete its tactile and technological characteristics: Edra conceives and designs the materials useful for each model and manufactures them exclusively so that they are perfect for its own collection.
