Vintage early edition 2097/30 chandelier designed by Gino Sarfatti. This lamp is a rare brass (gold colored) edition, although the brass is greatly faded due to age and shows some patina in the form of fly rust. Brass early editions are rare to find. Early editions (70's design) can be identified by the larger, externally located screws used to tighten the fittings into the washers. Newer editions have very small screws fully inserted into the rings.
The pendant lamp 2097 by Gino Sarfatti , designed in 1958, is an iconic piece of design.
It was manufactured by Arteluce and Flos. The metal structure consists of several beams of different lengths arranged around a large central cylinder. At the end of the spokes, black bakelite fittings support a large number of cut glass spheres. Sarfatti made a bold aesthetic choice for the time: unlike traditional chandeliers, he decided to leave the electrical cables and bakelite sockets visible. The elegant metal structure is then traversed by cables that create an aesthetic tangle in the room.
