Rare sculptural “Eagle Chair” designed by American artist and furniture designer Ray Lewis for the Fauna Collection, California, circa 1990. The chair features a cast-aluminium structure with an open sculptural back and two highly detailed eagles forming the sides, their outstretched wings serving as armrests. Black leather upholstered seat. This is an authentic, individually numbered example: No. 39 from a limited edition of 950. The original cast maker’s plaque reads: “Designed by Ray Lewis – Eagle Chair Number 39 of 950”. The original Fauna Collection labels from Mariposa, California, are also preserved underneath the seat. The chair was purchased in New York approximately thirty years ago and brought to Italy. It is an exceptionally uncommon American collectible design piece on the European market. Overall good vintage condition. The cast-aluminium structure is solid and complete, with age-related surface wear.
