Richly detailed oil painting on canvas... the scene appears to date from the 19th century. The painting itself was likely created in the early or mid-20th century. The artwork is flanked by a richly carved wooden frame with a golden, antique appearance.
A group of people is gathering in front of typical Dutch buildings. A stone arch bridge is visible in the distance. Nijland has managed to perfectly capture the charm of 19th-century Netherlands.
The painting is signed "Nijland". Likely painted by the Dutch artist Gerard Nijland – however, this has not been confirmed.
Found in Leiden, Netherlands.
