This very rare 'Scissor' chair was designed by Dutch architect Jan Van Grunsven in 1959 and produced by UMS/Pastoe in Utrecht. Van Grunsven worked at the architect studio Gerrit Rietveld during the 1950s-1960s. He only designed very few pieces of furniture. This modernist low-sitting model was named FB 18 and was part of Pastoe's "Combex" series. The structure of the chair is made of laminated layers of plywood. The chair is in good vintage condition and has been entirely reupholstered.
