Product description
On French tables during the interwar period, salt and pepper were served in these small pressed glass pieces, placed in the center of the tablecloth, within reach of each guest. This double salt cellar features two round transparent glass cups, joined by a central scalloped fan-shaped handle. Each cup displays a design of dots and flowers molded directly into the glass, the relief of which is fully revealed when light passes through. The scalloped edge of each cup mirrors the design of the central handle, lending the piece a silhouette that is both simple and elegant. This type of item was mass-produced by French and Belgian glassworks from the 1930s to the 1950s, embodying an accessible decorative spirit that extended Art Deco principles to everyday objects. Width approximately 13 cm, height approximately 4 cm. Transparent pressed-molded glass, France or Belgium, circa . Today, it naturally regains its primary function on a set table, or charmingly integrates into a collection of antique glassware.
