Space Age Discus wall/ceiling lamp, type '30531', white aluminum, Germany, 1960s-70s, Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) for Honsel Leuchten
This lamp was made in various sizes, including a 35 cm one. Its simple yet ingenious design makes this lamp a real eye-catcher. While various types of (incandescent) bulbs can be used, the lamp truly shines when paired with a mirrored headlamp.
Charlotte Perriand used these lamps in the apartments of the French ski resort 'Les Arcs'. As a visionary designer, she coordinated the development of this unique winter sports village for 20 years. The wall lamp also gained fame through its use in Stanley Kubrick's cult film 'A Clockwork Orange'.
