Oil on canvas, approximately 94x94 cm, including frame approximately 100x100 cm. With his characteristic beard, artist Dirk Annokkeé (1937) is a striking presence in Amstelveen. Dirk received his training at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. He found the magical realistic paintings he initially produced boring. Therefore, he drastically changed course in the late 1970s. "It was quite a struggle to switch from restrained painting to exuberant, but I ended up with an expressive way of painting that suits me completely."
