Ding Yi (b. 1962) is a well-known Chinese contemporary artist with exhibitions all over the world. He studied at Shanghai School of Arts and Crafts from 1980-1983 and then at Shanghai University from 1986 to 1990. His exhibitions include In Center Pompidou in Paris, Solomon Guggenheim Museum New York, lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, Hamburger Bahnhof Museum, Berlin, 45th Venice Biennale (1993), Witte de With Centre, Rotterdam. Ding Yi is one of China's foremost "Abstract" contemporary artists.
