Product description
This dish is a statement piece. Its rounded square-rimmed shape, typical of Digoin-Sarreguemines production from the 1950s-1970s, gives it an immediately recognizable silhouette, halfway between tableware and a decorative object. The Niger pattern is one of the manufacturer's classics. On the warm cream background, a dark burgundy gingham check runs diagonally across the entire rim, creating a strong and very contemporary graphic effect. At the four corners, small bouquets of pink berries and dark green foliage, precisely stencil-applied, add the floral touch that softens the overall look. The contrast between the rigor of the gingham and the roundness of the berries is exactly what gives this pattern its charm. The Digoin-Sarreguemines manufactory is one of the great names in French earthenware. Born in Sarreguemines in 1790, it expanded to Digoin in the 19th century and became one of the most important European producers of fine earthenware. Its dinner services, stenciled patterns, and original shapes have adorned generations of French tables. The stamp on the reverse, with the pattern name Niger and form number 68, allows for precise dating to the 1960s production. With its 28 cm diameter, this dish naturally finds its place in a country kitchen, a mismatched table setting, or an open dresser where it effortlessly stands out. The burgundy gingham pairs well with linen, terracotta, and raw wood. A piece with enduring character. Front in very good condition, some signs of use on the reverse with no impact on presentation. Additional details: - Brand: Digoin Sarreguemines - Style: campagne - Material: Faïence - Colour: bordeaux - Colour: roses - Colour: vert foncé - Period: 1960s
