Olivetti Programma 101 (P101)
Iconic pioneer of the desktop computer
The Olivetti Programma 101 (P101) was launched in 1965.
A team led by Pier Giorgio Perotto developed the machine starting in 1962.
The device is considered the world's first programmable desktop computer. Moreover, it delivered computing power unprecedented for its time.
Mario Bellini designed the styling and ergonomics. With this, he won the Compasso d’Oro.
NASA also used the P101 for complex calculations related to the Apollo moon landing in 1969.
This rare computer is in exceptionally beautiful condition. The device is complete and free from damage or discoloration.
After years of inactivity, a professional technical inspection is recommended, during which the printer's transmission belt, in particular, should be replaced.
The set includes the original power cord, manuals, and magnetic cards. In 2025, this unit was on loan for the exhibition ‘Women as Technology’ at Design Museum Den Bosch.
The P101 is now available for purchase.
