This extraordinary vase lamp, newly assembled, is based on an original ceramic piece by Cari Zalloni for Steuler Keramik from the 1970s, model number 5101.
Cari Zalloni (1937–2012) was an Italian designer who first gained recognition for his expressive ceramic designs for the German company Steuler Keramik. From the 1960s onward, as head designer, he shaped the brand's image with organic forms, bold colors, and experimental glazes—particularly with iconic series like "Zyklon." He also designed for Fohr & Goebel (PAN Keramik), as well as glass objects for WMF, and swimwear and skiwear. In the 1980s, his Cazal brand sunglasses became a defining element of hip-hop culture in New York City. Artists such as Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J wore his designs. Today, Cari Zalloni is considered a versatile designer who has had a lasting impact on both post-war European ceramics and international pop and streetwear culture.
The base of this lamp is sculptural, in the typical pagoda style of the period: three stacked, square elements with soft edges – an almost brutalist design language.
The glaze shimmers between petrol blue, turquoise, and deep blue with subtle color gradients – typical of Steuler in the 1970s and highly sought after today. A popular collector's item.
Artifact-Preserving Upcycling
The conversion to a lamp is carried out entirely with care:
• no drilling
• no irreversible alterations
• original collector's value is preserved
The socket is anchored using an internal fixing system with a cork and clip. The base has also been weighted for stability. The opening is sealed with a high-quality brass plate, and the threaded rod is encased in brass.

The cylindrical shade of the Roomlight Studio is covered with a high-quality, richly colored fabric. The expressive floral pattern in petrol, red, cream, and turquoise echoes the depth of the glaze and enhances the 1970s character of the base.

As an accent lamp on a sideboard or console, it creates a strong sculptural effect – especially when combined with the shimmering blue and petrol tones.
