Elegant and distinctive, this decorative ewer perfectly embodies the aesthetic of 1960s interiors, an era when glass, brass, and fluid lines combined in objects designed both to adorn the home and to be functional. Its bulbous body is crafted from a beautiful, pale blue glass, almost aquatic, enlivened by a crackled decoration that runs throughout the material. These fine, irregular branching patterns seem trapped within the glass, lending it a particularly captivating depth when light passes through.
The gilded brass mounting truly transforms the piece. The widely flared base provides it with beautiful stability, while the neck stretches upwards towards a spectacular spout – long, slender, and slightly curved. The handle, deliberately thin and unadorned, accentuates this silhouette without weighing it down. The ensemble thus plays on a very successful contrast between the generous, transparent roundness of the glass and the almost graphic line of the metal. Depending on the angle from which it is viewed, the ewer completely changes its appearance, at times delicate, at others almost sculptural.
The piece retains the natural marks of its history. The brass exhibits an antique patina, with traces of oxidation, minor pitting, and signs of use particularly visible on the spout. This patina beautifully complements the object's antique character. The glass, for its part, retains all its brilliance and its very beautiful crackled decoration. The underside of the base also retains its old protective felt pad, now marked by time. European decorative work from the mid-20th century, circa 1960s. Height approximately 20 cm.
