Original coffee table, designed by Grete Jalk and produced by Glostrup Møbelfabrik, Denmark, 1950s. This refined table is an outstanding example of Danish Mid-Century Modern design, combining sculptural elegance with exceptional craftsmanship. Grete Jalk was one of Denmark's most influential furniture designers, renowned for her organic forms, functional simplicity and timeless aesthetic. Her collaboration with Glostrup Møbelfabrik resulted in some of the most desirable pieces of Danish Modern furniture. Crafted in beautifully figured teak veneer, the tabletop features elegantly sculpted long edges that gently curve upwards, creating one of the design's most distinctive details. The softly tapered solid teak legs give the table a remarkably light appearance, while the slatted lower shelf made from wide teak slats provides practical storage for books and magazines without compromising the table's visual elegance. Carefully executed joinery and premium materials reflect the outstanding quality of Danish cabinetmaking during the period. Condition: Professionally cleaned and freshly oiled. The teak is in beautiful vintage condition with a rich natural patina and only minor signs of age-related wear. The brass feet currently fitted are later additions and can easily be removed if desired. A highly elegant and increasingly collectible Danish coffee table.
