Bring a piece of Danish design history into your interior with this characterful Brutalist pendant lamp!
The robust, almost sculptural shade consists of curved metal segments that together create a spherical shape. Visible welds and irregular edges emphasize the raw, Brutalist character. The metal has a warm, weathered hue with subtle discolorations and patina, creating depth and a handcrafted look.
The openings and serrated edge at the bottom allow the light to filter through, creating a soft, diffused, and slightly mysterious lighting effect.
The design is by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913–2004), a Danish lighting designer primarily active in the 1950s and 1960s. He belongs to the generation that shaped Danish Modern and mid-century modern, with a strong emphasis on ambient lighting rather than purely functional lighting.
The lamp hangs from a chain of approximately 150 cm and is finished with an original brass-colored ceiling rose.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition. Some slight discoloration is present, consistent with its age and the character of the design.
