After serving as a saboteur with the Danish resistance during World War II, Jo Hammerborg studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art after which he worked as a silversmith with Georg Jensen. In 1957 he was appointed chief designer at the Danish lighting manufacturer Fog & Mørup , where he worked until 1980. Under his leadership, the company experienced its most creative and commercially successful period. He has contributed to more than 180 different lamp designs, some of which have won international prizes. Hammerborg died in a parachute jump in 1982.This stylish floor lamp is in beautiful vintage condition with minor signs of wear that are typical of its age.
