A Danish desk lamp from the 1960s that merges Scandinavian modernism with subtle Art Deco references. The distinctive shade, flattened into a lens-like form with concentric ridges, gives this piece an unmistakable character that sets it apart from typical study lamps of the era. The construction centres on a simple cylindrical stem rising from a circular base. All metal components share a warm brown finish, providing a restrained backdrop for the dominant white shade above. The shade's pronounced concentric rings recall the decorative vocabulary of the 1930s, while the pared-back base embodies the restraint of post-war Scandinavian design. This dialogue between two distinct design traditions gives the lamp its singular personality. A cord-mounted switch allows convenient operation. Danish design of the 1960s became renowned for reconciling seemingly distant influences into coherent wholes.
