Duo of Rosenthal Exhibition Glass Vases – Swirled Art Glass, Germany, ca. 1970s-1980s
A striking set of two rare Rosenthal exhibition glass vases from the golden age of the Rosenthal Studio-Line, Germany, likely crafted in the 1970s-1980s. These sculptural pieces were originally presented as part of Rosenthal’s Glaskunstausstellung—an exclusive showcase of experimental and limited-production glass art developed under the visionary direction of Philip Rosenthal.
Each vase exemplifies the sophisticated craftsmanship and daring aesthetics associated with Rosenthal’s foray into high-concept studio glass. One features a mesmerizing swirl of green, yellow, and clear glass—possibly a repurposed decanter form, now appreciated for its organic coloration and vibrant lightplay. The other, a tall bottle-form vase, is executed in emerald green with a fluted optic body, crowned by a luminous purple swirl lip that recalls Italian or Czech influences, yet is unmistakably rooted in German modernist sensibility.
These are not mass-produced items but one-off or small-batch works made either in-house or in collaboration with select artisan glassblowers. While no individual designer attribution is confirmed, the expressive forms and rich chromatics suggest dialogue with both the Czech glass movement and Scandinavian art glass trends of the period.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The green/yellow vessel shows a pontil mark with some controlled irregularities at the base, and faint inscriptions remain partially visible—consistent with studio production. The bottle-form vase is undamaged and stable. No chips or cracks.
