ENJOY! The Second Life
Uitgeest, Netherlands
Product description
This model with decorative embellishments from the 1840/1876 period is rare! This pattern, "Flora," was a favorite of the painter Claude Monet and he owned a set of them that he used at Giverny.
This is a beautiful old French sauce bowl (or 'Sauciere' in French), with a classic shape and made of quality porcelain by the renowned French manufacturer Creil et Montereau. That company first introduced this pattern, "Flora," at the World's Fair in Paris in 1855. The pattern was used until the early 1900s.
This fine piece is decorated with a blue transferware pattern of morning glories. The handles on the sides are made like intertwined stems. This is one of the most popular French porcelain patterns and rare serving pieces like this one are highly sought after.
This beautiful piece has no cracks or chips and is in virtually pristine condition. Its excellent antique condition makes it particularly desirable.
