The elegant "Cornaro" sofa designed by Carlo Scarpa for Studio Simon in 1974.
Made with a solid iroko wood frame, this model stands out for its rigorous geometric forms and the quality of its craftsmanship. The sofa has been completely restored and reupholstered in a light blue velvet by JAB, chosen for its soft, luminous texture, which gives the piece a contemporary elegance while preserving the original spirit of the project.
Carlo Scarpa, one of the finest masters of twentieth-century Italian glass, is known for his collaborations with Venini, where he redefined the language of Murano artistic glass, and with Bernini, with whom he explored new proportions and materials in interior design.
In the case of Studio Simon, founded by Dino Gavina, Scarpa served as artistic director, helping to create one of the most significant collections of Italian design of the 1970s.
This Cornaro sofa perfectly expresses his architectural vision: a perfect synthesis of formal balance, material warmth, and attention to detail.
The restoration was carried out by specialized Italian craftsmen.
